Eligible letter for Storm Darragh GSOP payment

Thank you for your query in relation to a request for a payment of a Guaranteed Standard of Performance (GSOP) in relation to a power cut you experienced in the National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) licenced areas.

Between the 6th and 13th December 2024, NGED experienced considerable damage to the electricity network, with wind speeds of up to 96mph resulting in widespread power cuts. This was the worst storm our regions have seen in decades.

Despite our best efforts, with thousands of engineers in the field and additional resources drafted in, we weren’t always able to get our customers back on supply as quickly as we would have hoped. This is because the conditions were either too dangerous for our teams to carry out work, or there were other obstacles, such as flooding or fallen trees, limiting our access to power lines.

Please accept our apologies for the time you were without power and our thanks for your patience while we worked to restore your supply. We hope that some of our welfare offerings across local areas were a support to you and your community during the outage.

Our records indicate that your property was without power for over 48 hours as a result of the storm and as such you are eligible for a payment in accordance with Ofgem’s Guaranteed Standards of Performance scheme for a category 2 storm. For more information, please click here.

We apologise that the payment has not yet reached you. A cheque will be sent to your property made payable to the name provided to us by your energy supplier.
