Close shave for Danni after firefighter visit

Colleagues at our office in Plymouth witnessed a close shave when a firefighter turned up on the premises.

Devon and Somerset Fire & Rescue’s Jason Bennellick wasn’t there for an emergency however, but to cut his partner Danni Grigg’s hair off!

Team manager Danni had her head shaved to raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity, particularly its work supporting mental health.

Her long flowing locks, which had taken years to grow, disappeared in about 15 minutes as Jason wielded the clippers while Danni’s colleagues look on.

“It feels so cold!” said Danni afterwards. “But my team mates have been very supportive. I’ve been told a few times that I have a nice shaped head, which makes me smile as I’ve never been complimented on my head shape before!”

Danni has so far raised more than £1,400 from family, friends, colleagues and National Grid for a cause that means a lot: “The charity funds week-long programmes at Harcombe House, its residential centre near Chudleigh, which helps fire fighters deal with mental health issues that can stem from facing the horrific scenes they can encounter.

“The charity also provides life-long care and support, including a self-assessment tool, a crisis line, help with physical health, social wellbeing and nursing advice – for fire fighters and their whole families.”
