Saltash set for electricity upgrade
Residents in Saltash will benefit from enhanced electricity supplies as a result of a £250,000 upgrade scheme starting this week.
Engineers are replacing underground cables serving more than 130 homes at Summerfields and at Castle View in St Stephens.
The work will affect more than 650 metres of footpath and short sections of road. It will last until mid-July.
Project lead engineer David Cassidy said: “This is an important investment in the area’s electricity network that will improve the reliability of supplies for residents for decades to come.
“We are adding extra capacity to the local network which will make it easier for people to connect electric vehicle chargers, solar panels, heat pumps and battery storage.
“We understand though that work on this scale will cause some inconvenience to people living in Summerfields and Castle View and we will be doing all we can to minimise this.”
There will be some temporary interruptions to electricity supplies which residents will be notified of in advance.
Letters have been sent to affected customers explaining the work, which will be carried out in phases:
- 27 April- 10 May: From 7 Summerfields to 21 Summerfields
- 11 May- 8 June: From 52 Summerfields to 1 Summerfields
- 1-5 June: From 1 Summerfields towards the junction of Castle View
- 8 June-27 June: From junction of Castle view toward 13 Castle View
- 22 June-3 July: From 13 Castle View towards 25 Castle View
- 29 June-13 July: From 25 Castle View towards 50 Castle View
There will be two-way traffic lights on St Stephen’s Hill from 1-5 June.
