Strengthening West Wales electricity network with £3.5m upgrade

We have delivered a major upgrade to the electricity infrastructure in West Wales, installing a second primary transformer at the Llanfyrnach substation.

This investment is part of a wider £3.5 million programme to modernise and reinforce the region’s electricity network, ensuring homes and businesses benefit from a more resilient and future-ready supply.

Steffan Jones, West Wales Projects Team Manager at National Grid Electricity Distribution, said: "Our teams live and work in the communities we serve, and we’re proud to invest in the future of West Wales.

"By increasing capacity at Llanfyrnach, we are helping to provide a reliable and resilient electricity supply that supports the local economy and also ensures the network is future-ready and equipped to meet growing demand."

The work reinforces our commitment to delivering long-term infrastructure improvements that benefit communities across West Wales.
