Urgent works start in Plymouth

Urgent work has started near Plymouth’s Marsh Mills roundabout to fix an electricity cable fault.

Drivers are being warned it could take up to 9 days to fix the issue on the high voltage underground network on Plymouth Road.

A spokesperson for National Grid Electricity Distribution said: “These are essential emergency repairs to maintain reliable power supplies in the area.

“Due to the nature of the fault and the specialist equipment required, the works are complex and must be carried out safely to protect both the public and our engineers.

“Every effort is being made to complete the repairs as quickly as possible.

“We recognise this work is causing significant traffic disruption and delays for motorists using Plymouth Road and surrounding routes. We would like to apologise to local residents, businesses and road users for the inconvenience this is causing.

“We are working closely with the local highways authority and traffic management partners to minimise disruption wherever possible, and would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while these essential works are completed.”
